important Station Yard, and at a spot where the difficulty
in signalling would add to the danger.

Finally there is the considera-
-tion that there is enough land available on the Reclama-
-tion in Hunghom Bay and the adjoining Lots acquired by
Government, viz.:- Kowloon Marine Lots 34 and 61 and
Kowloon Inland Lot 210, for a Passenger Station and
necessary terminal arrangements. If Kowloon Inland Lots
1140, 1141, 443, 442 and 618 are taken up for the Terminus
a considerable area of the Reclamation not abutting on the
sea, (for it is in any event not considered prudent to
alienate any portion of the sea frontage in view of
possible future developments), will not be required. The
last mentioned Lots comprise land that is more valuable
than land on the Reclamation not fronting the sea, and are
likely to be much more readily leased as they are con-
-tiguous to the area in this part of Kowloon which is
inhabited by Chinese.
It is, therefore, likely to be
more economical to avail of the Reclamation to the fullest
extent, and to lease the Lots referred to, than to occupy
these lots for the Terminus and release portion of the
Reclamation for alienation.
